Providing quality animal care starts with quality gas

Used in supporting animals’ respiratory systems in life saving procedures, oxygen is essential to keeping your patient’s tails wagging. So when it comes to caring for our furry friends, cutting corners on your oxygen gas supply isn’t an option. But how can you ensure your oxygen gas is medical grade?

What sets medical grade apart from welding grade oxygen is how cylinders are filled and the certification requirements needed. Medical grade oxygen tanks must be filled with a minimum of 99% oxygen and must be evacuated before refilling to reduce the risk of contamination. Your supplier should be able to provide a certificate of analysis upon request to confirm your gas quality.

Additionally, tracing your medical oxygen gas cylinders allows you to certify you’re receiving the highest quality gas. Every cylinder you purchase should include a lot number which informs you of where each cylinder is from and the date it was filled.

As always, following proper storage and usage guidelines when using medical grade oxygen will ensure you’re not only using the best gas, but providing the best care. Make sure you keep your cylinders upright at all times and away from any heat source or flame. Always store your medical oxygen cylinders in a well-ventilated area in case of leakage and make sure you always have full cylinders on hand in case of emergencies.
